Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui (i) kandungan klorofil-a, nitrat dan fosfat; (ii) hubungan antara klorofil-a dengan nitrat dan fosfat dan (iii) nilai kesuburan perairan di Muara Sungai Wakak. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Desember 2014 sampai Januari 2015. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode survei dan metode sampling menggunakan studi kasus. Lokasi penelitian di bagi menjadi tiga stasiun yaitu muara bagian atas ( upper estuary ), muara bagian tengah ( middle estuary ) dan muara bagian bawah ( lower estuary ). Pengambilan sampel air dilakukan pada saat pasang dan surut, dengan pengulangan sebanyak tiga kali. Hasil penelitian pada waktu pasang menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi klorofil-a berkisar 0,62 – 1,92 μg/l, nitrat berkisar 0,45 - 1,35 mg/l dan fosfat berkisar, 0,12 - 1,04. Sebaliknya saat surut, konsentrasi klorofil-a berkisar 0,34 – 0,92 μg/, nitrat berkisar 0,60 - 1,95mg/l dan fosfat berkisar 0,06 - 0,55 mg/l. Berdasarkan uji korelasi menunjukkan keeratan antara klorofil-a dengan nitrat dan fosfat saat pasang memiliki hasil sedang, saat surut memiliki hasil keterkaitan lemah. Kesuburan perairan Muara Sungai Wakak berdasarkan nilai TSI berkisar antara 55,12 – 65,42 saat pasang dan 50,75 - 60,84 saat surut. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat dikatakan bahwa baik saat pasang dan saat surut di duga Muara Sungai Wakak berada dalam katagori eutrofik ringan hingga sedang. Nutrients such as phosphates and nitrates can influence the growth of phytoplankton, which phytoplankton was used as water quality. This research purpose were to know about (i) concentration of chlorophyll-a, nitrate and phosphate, (iii) corelation between chlorophyll-a with phosphate and nitrate and (iii) water productivity level. This study was conducted between December 2014 until January 2015. Research methode that used are surveying methode and sampling methode using study case. There ware sampling three stations which were upper estuary, middle estuary and lower estuary. Sampling water was conducted at high tide and low tide with three time replication. The results shows that at high tide, the concentration chlorophyll-a are 0,62 - 1,92 μg/l, nitrate are 0,45 - 1,35 mg/l and phosphate are 0,12 - 1,04 mg/l. at low tide, the concentration of chlorophyl-a are 0,34 – 0,92 μg/l, nitrate are 0,60 - 1,95mg/l and phospate are 0,06 - 0,55 mg/l. Based on correlation test, the reletionship chlorophyll-a with nitrate and phosphate was middle correlation at high tide, while low tide was weak.
