Author Guidelines

Manuscript submission instructions

  1. Contributors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce any material in which they do not own copyright, to be used in both print and electronic media, and for ensuring that appropriate acknowledgement is included in their manuscript.
  2. The journal accepts a manuscript on the understanding that its content is original and that it has not been accepted for publication or review elsewhere. Once accepted for publication, copyright resides with the journal. Rejected manuscripts will not be returned. 
  3. Manuscripts must be submitted online at https://ejournal3.undip.ac.id/index.php/jip/about/submissions#onlineSubmissions in MS Word format.
  4. Any enquiries should be directed to ilmuperpustakaan@live.undip.ac.id
  5. Authors are encouraged to utilise reference management application programs, e.g. Mendeley, EndNote, or Zotero, or others.
  6. Authors are also responsible for online acknowledgement of the statement of ethical contributions to Jurnal Ilmu Perpustakaan.
  7. Authors should follow the journal's author guidelines.
  8. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed. Please do not put author(s) name and institution(s) into manuscript.

Manuscript preparation

  1. The full paper template can be accessed here.
  2. The contents of the article are the result of empirical and theoretical research in library science, archival science, information management, and information technology.
  3. The article is written either in Indonesian or English, one-column format using Times New Roman size 11 pts, 1.5 space, A4, up to as many as 8-25 pages. 
  4. Articles sent to the Editor via Jurnal Ilmu Perpustakaan online submission system.
  5. The article submitted to Jurnal Ilmu Perpustakaan should contain more or less the following parts:
    • Title (written centred, Sentence case letter, Arial, font size 14 pts, maximum 15 words)
    • The author's name (with no academic degree, written underneath origin and their institutions or their email address)
    • Abstract (in English and/or Indonesian, written one space, Times New Roman size 11 pts, the length of each abstract 200-250 words). Abstract minimal contain the problem, objectives, methods, concepts, and results of research and discussion.
    • Keywords (taken from the title or abstract, 3-5 word keywords)
    • Introduction (containing background, state of the art, problems, goals, and benefits). The Introduction to Conceptual article contains a reference to the context of exposure problems, contains interesting things (controversial, unresolved, and new developments) and a short formulation of the subject matter to be discussed. The entire introductory section presented an integrated way in the form of paragraphs, with a length of 10% of the total length of the article. The introductory part does not need to be given sub-title introduction.
    • Literature review (contains the previous study and/or the related literature used as the basis for the research analysis,  with a length of 10% of the total length of the article). 
    • Methods (contains a paragraph about the study design, data sources, data collection techniques, and real data analysis conducted by researchers, with a length of 10-15% of the total length of the article.).
    • Results and Discussion (shows exposure analysis results related to the research question. The discussion shows the meaning of the results and comparisons with the theory and/or the results of similar studies. Long exposure results and discussion 40-60% of the length of the article).
    • Conclusions (contains conclusions, the affirmation of the establishment or the attitude of the author, and suggestions. Concluding presented in paragraph form. Long exposure covers 10-15% of the length of the article.
    • Bibliography (List of references only contains the sources referenced in the article, and all the sources referred to should be listed in the reference list. Referral source at least 80% in the form of literature published within the last 10 years. References used are primary sources in the form of research articles in journals or research reports (including thesis, dissertation). 
    • Reconciliation and citations using the enclosed reference (the last name, year). Inclusion of a source in a direct quotation should be accompanied by information about the place of origin of the page number citations. Example: Baran (2009: 45).
    • Note: the titling of introduction, literature review, methods, results and discussion, and conclusion may be modified in relevance to the article's purpose as long as ordered systematically. 
    • Authors may modify the sub-title naming of "Introduction", "Literature review", "Methods", "Results and Discussions", and "Conclusion" with their own most suitable subtitle-sentence.
  6. Pictures and images associated with the research findings are included in the article.
  7. Tables and Figures should be numbered (Arabic numerals) and titled, as well as given a clear explanation. The table title should be placed above the table, while the picture title is placed below the image.
  8. Bibliography is written sequentially in alphabetical order using APA 7th style.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

The Authors submitting a manuscript do so on the understanding that if accepted for publication, copyright of the article shall be assigned to Jurnal Ilmu Perpustakaan and Library and Information Science Study Program, Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Diponegoro as publisher of the journal. 

Copyright encompasses rights to reproduce and deliver the article in all form and media, including reprints, photographs, microfilms, and any other similar reproductions, as well as translations.
