Threat escalation due to the North Korea’s nuclear proliferation is North Korea dared to conduct a nuclear test in 2006 and 2009 after declaring withdrawal from regime of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). This nuclear issue has become international concern, especially Japan. This research has purpose to analyze Japan’s security policy based on Japan’s identity as “pacifist country” and “non-nuclear country”. The framework used in this research is the concept of norms and identity of the constructivist theory. The type of this research is explanatory, using qualitative data analysis techniques from literatures review. The result of this research is given explanation about Japan’s security policies which are normalization talk, international cooperation through Proliferation Security Initiative and Six Party Talk, and enhance its role as “stabilizer” in Asia region in international non-proliferation effort through Proliferation Security Initiative Maritime Interdiction Exercise and Asia Senior-Level Talks on Non-Proliferation.}, issn = {3063-2684}, pages = {116--126} doi = {10.14710/jirud.v2i2.11139}, url = {https://ejournal3.undip.ac.id/index.php/jihi/article/view/11139} }
