PENGALAMAN MENDERITA KANKER PAYUDARA SEBUAH INTERPRETATIVE PHENOMENOLOGICAL ANALYSIS

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi usaha para penderita kanker payudara dalam menyesuaikan diri terhadap kondisi sakitnya hingga dinyatakan bersih dari kanker dan ingin mengetahui bagaimana mereka memaknai pengalaman sakitnya. Pendekatan kualitatif, khususnya metode fenomenologi dengan analisis data Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) dipilih sebagai metode penelitian karena kesesuaiannya dengan tujuan penelitian. Pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara mendalam semi-terstruktur dilakukan terhadap tiga orang penderita kanker payudara stadium III dengan rentang usia 40 hingga 65 tahun dan telah menjalani pengobatan kanker payudara selama minimal satu tahun yang dipilih menggunakan purposive sampling. Pada penelitian ini ditemukan tujuh tema superordinat, yaitu (1) Rasa tidak menentu sebelum pengobatan; (2) Dinamika menjalani pengobatan; (3) Kesembuhan sebagai fokus utama; (4) Pencarian kekuatan melalui jalur religius; (5) Pertemuan sosial sebagai penguat; (6) Harapan di masa depan; dan (7) Pemaknaan sakit kanker. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan sumbangan pemikirian ilmiah dalam bidang psikologi khususnya psikologi kesehatan dan kesehatan mental.
