Pengambilan data penutupan karang menggunakan metode Line Transect . Sedimen dalam pengukuran laju sedimentasi diambil menggunakan sediment trap yang diletakkan masing-masing pada karang tersebut selama 14 hari. Terdapat 3 genera karang massive yang ditemukan di lokasi penelitian yaitu genus Goniastrea, Favites dan Goniopora sementara pada karang bercabang adalah genus Porites dan Acropora. Nilai presentase penutupan karang hidup dari karang massive yaitu 36,83% dan karang bercabang 46,84%. Laju sedimentasi pada karang massive dan karang bercabang di perairan Pulau Panjang, Jepara yaitu antara 0,54 – 2,78 mg/cm 3 /hari pada karang massive sedangkan pada karang bercabang antara 0,43 – 1,25 mg/cm 3 /hari. Laju sedimentasi pada dua tipe karang menunjukkan perbedaan dimana laju sedimentasi pada karang massive lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan karang bercabang. Coral reefs has various morphology type such as branching, massive, encrusting, tabulate, foliose and mushroom. Sedimentation rate are suppossed to be different in two coral morphology . The method of this study is descriptive method. The method of data collection is Line Transect. Sediment in sedimentation rate measurement, taken by sediment trap that placed in those coral types for 14 days. There are 3 genera coral founded in the study site were Goniastrea, Favites and Goniopora genus from massive coral then Porites and Acropora genus from branching coral. The coral nappe of massive coral is 36,83% whereas branching coral is 46,84%. Sedimentation rate in Panjang island waters are 0,54 – 2,78 mg/cm 3 /day in massive coral then branching coral are 0,43 – 1,25 mg/cm 3 /day.
