Abstract
In the implementation of public policy, the press and media have a strategic role, particularly in supporting the fulfillment of child-friendly information indicators. In the Child-Friendly City (KLA) policy, the role of the press and media is part of the assessment indicators, namely institutional indicators and civil rights and freedom indicators. Data from the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs in 2025 shows that 233,552 pornographic contents have been handled, indicating that digital content control is still weak and the risk of inappropriate information for children is high. This study aims to analyze the role of child-friendly press and media in the implementation of Child Friendly City in Depok City and identify the driving and inhibiting factors. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data analysis techniques using Atlas.ti software and data quality testing using peer debriefing. The results show that the role of the press and media in meeting the indicators of appropriate information is carried out in compliance with the journalistic code of ethics, the use of initials and blurring the faces of children, and caution in reporting issues related to ethnicity, religion, race, and intergroup relations (SARA). The driving factors are the existence of special education programs, government and media communication forums, and the media's ability to produce child-friendly content. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors are the lack of effective coordination and supervision, limited budgets, and low communication frequency.
