Abstract

[Gray Fabric Quality Control Analysis Using Six Sigma Method (Case Study: PT. Iskandar Indah Printing Textile Surakarta)] PT Iskandar Indah Printing Textile Surakarta is one of the companies engaged in the textile industry. One of the products produced by PT Iskandar Indah Printing Textile Surakarta is gray cloth. However, in the gray fabric production process during the period December 2021-January 2022, the level of product defects produced still exceeds the company's target of 0.524%. Products that do not meet company standards can cause company losses such as consumer dissatisfaction and reduce company profits. Therefore, the Six Sigma approach is used through continuous improvement efforts to reduce errors that occur during the production process. The method used in this study is based on the DMAIC (Define, Measurement, Analyze, Improvement, and Control) cycle. The results showed that there were three dominant types of defects that were identified during the gray fabric manufacturing process, namely thickness defects, double pick defects, and entry edge defects. Recommendations for repair of defects are given based on the root problems identified through analysis using fishbone diagrams and 5-whys analysis. The recommendations for improvement are improving air circulation by implementing a dust collection system, providing a heat-absorbing layer on the starch machine, as well as tightening the supervision process and strengthening the punishment system (SP) by promoting discipline programs for all supervisors.
