Abstract

[Quality Control Of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) Products With The Six Sigma Method Through The DMAIC Approach (Case Study: PTPN II PKS Sawit Seberang] As an upstream palm oil industry, the business process carried out by PTPN II PKS Sawit Seberang is to process FFB into CPO. However, in the processing, quality problems were found, where the moisture content as one of the CPO quality parameters was outside the specification limits set by the company. Therefore, this study aims to identify the causative factors of moisture quality problems and recommend proposed improvements to address these problems. This study used Six Sigma method with DMAIC approach. However, the stages to be discussed are only up to the Improve stage. The quality tools used are I-MR control maps and fishbone diagrams. The calculation results show that a Cp value of 0.58 means that the performance of the moisture content process is not good, so it needs to be improved through process improvement. Then the resulting Cpk value is -1.60 which means that the process average lies outside the specification limit. The proposed improvements are tighter supervision, paying attention to the work environment, FFB is processed immediately when it arrives at the factory with the FIFO (First In First Out) method, CPO is directly sent to consumers, covering FFB with tarpaulins when distributing to factories, spraying NaCl if FFB is exposed to rain, routine cleaning and maintenance of machines, and following company SOPs.
