Abstract

ABSTRACT

Banyumanik sub-district is one of many sub-districts in Central Java with the highest population of 132,508 people (Central Bureau of Statistics, 2016). Therefore, there are many housings with different types. The amount of these housings increases the potential of local furniture industries. The local furniture industries should have bigger potential because of the high level of housings development. However, it needs more study to find out the potential of furniture against very-simple or simple type housings.

This study used data information of the furniture stores and the survey’s opinions of the modest type housings’ residents to the purchase of furniture. Based on the data, weighting parameter using AHP (Analysis Hierarchy Process) method has been done and obtained the most proper criteria for the furniture that was affordable for the residents of very simple type housing to simple type housing, they are medium size dining table which was 32%, two-seat family/guest, sofa  about 29% and two-door wardrobe about 69%.

The buffering process of simple type housings and roadways was undergone. Then the result of Geospatial Information Systems analysis was the distribution of furnitures stores in Banyumanik sub-district with clustered pattern in sub-district’s center and spread near the roadways and the biggest percentage of furniture stores was in Administrative Village of Srondol Wetan. From the result of parameter map data, it is obtained that the potential of furniture stores in Banyumanik sub-district, there are 5 furniture stores in very potential level, 3 stores in potential level, 6 stores in fairly potential level and 1 store in less potential level.
