REGULASI DIRI DAN KECANDUAN DALAM PENGGUNAAN MEDIA SOSIAL PADA MAHASISWA GENERASI Z FAKULTAS PSIKOLOGI UNIVERSITAS DIPONEGORO

Abstract
Di jaman ini, individu bisa berkomunikasi dengan siapapun, dimanapun dan kapanpun melalui aplikasi media sosial. Selain memiliki dampak positif, media sosial juga memiliki dampak negatif. Penggunaan media sosial secara berlebihan bisa menyebabkan penggunanya mengalami kecanduan, yang berhubungan langsung dengan kesehatan mental individu. Penelitian sebelumnya menunjukkan bahwa regulasi diri berperan negatif pada kecanduan media sosial, namun penelitian tersebut dilaksanakan hanya pada siswa SMK. Sehingga, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran regulasi diri terhadap kecanduan media sosial pada mahasiswa generasi Z. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Diponegoro angkatan 2019 yang berjumlah 341 mahasiswa. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 172 mahasiswa yang ditentukan dengan teknik sampel random sederhana. Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan Skala Kecanduan Media Sosial (36 item; 𝛼=0,938) dan Skala Regulasi Diri dalam Penggunaan Media Sosial (18 aitem; 𝛼=0,841). Analisis data menggunakan analisis regresi sederhana menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peran negatif regulasi diri terhadap kecanduan media sosial pada mahasiswa generasi Z Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Diponegoro (rxy=0,181; p=0,018). Artinya, semakin tinggi regulasi diri yang dimiliki mahasiswa generasi Z, maka semakin rendah tingkat kecanduan media sosial. Regulasi diri memberikan sumbangan efektif sebesar 3,3% terhadap kecanduan media sosial pada mahasiswa generasi Z Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Diponegoro.
