EKSPLORASI PENGALAMAN NONSUICIDAL SELF-INJURY (NSSI) PADA WANITA DEWASA AWAL : SEBUAH INTERPRETATIVE PHENOMENOLOGICAL ANALYSIS

Abstract

Nonsuicidal self-injury (NSSI) dilakukan secara sengaja untuk menyalurkan tekanan emosional yang terpendam. Pada umumnya pelaku NSSI cenderung melakukan aksinya secara tersembunyi. Kondisi tersebut membuat fenomena ini sulit dideteksi. Padahal NSSI tidak dapat dianggap remeh sehingga perlu untuk mendapat perhatian lebih. Penelitian ini bertujuan memahami pengalaman wanita dewasa awal yang melakukan NSSI. Teknik pemilihan subjek menggunakan teknik purposive dengan kriteria partisipan telah melakukan NSSI setidaknya 5 kali dalam waktu 12 bulan terakhir. Teknik pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik snowball. Proses pengambilan data pada penelitian ini dilakukan dengan in depth interview dan observasi. Selanjutnya hasil wawancara akan dianalisis menggunakan metode  interpretative phenomenological analysis. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data diperoleh sepuluh tema superordinat, meliputi (1) konflik dengan pasangan, (2) ketidak harmonisan keluarga, (3) penilaian negatif terhadap diri , (4) manifestasi perilaku menyakiti diri, (5) sensasi emosional pada luka, (6) perasaan lepas sesaat setelah self-injury, (7) dampak negatif pada kehidupan, (8) kemunculan hasrat mengakhiri hidup, (9) kesadaran untuk mencari pertolongan profesional, (10) motivasi menjadi lebih baik. Terdapat pula satu tema khusus, yakni dukungan positif komunitas. Melalui penelitian ini telah diungkap bagaimana pemaknaan seseorang yang melakukan NSSI serta usaha masing-masing partisipan dalam mencari bantuan terkait dengan kondisi kesehatan mentalnya.
