Abstract
Innovation in sector of construction in Indonesia is more progressive according the time. One of them is mixing waste into the main ingredient for making red bricks. Two of the many wastes is sawdust waste and plastic waste, because the disposal of sawdust waste and plastic waste are still become a problem itself. The problem is that the waste is simply burned or thrown away, therefore the purpose of this research is to reduce environmental pollution. This research was conducted using an experimental method, to find out optimum percentage produced by the addition of the waste. Besides that, to find out about test of compressive strength, water absorption and cost required. The ratio of materials used to conventional red brick between clay and rice husk is 95:5. The ratio of materials used to innovation red brick between clay, sawdust waste, and polypropylene waste are 95:5, 95:5:10, 90:10:10, 85:15:10, 80:20:10. The addition of sawdust waste and plastic waste are expected to increase the average compressive strength, because currently in the industry most of them only reach 60 kg/cm2 to 80 kg/cm2, expected of water absorption is also <20%.
