PILARS Journal (Jurnal Sipil dan Arsitektur) is a media for Scientific Work Publication that focuses on Civil Engineering and Applied Architecture, which can be research results, designs, literature reviews, or case studies. Manuscripts that are by the substance and good writing will have the potential to be published. Published articles have gone through a review process.
Manuscript Preparation
The submitted manuscript has never been published or is not being submitted to another journal. The manuscript results from original research or findings and does not violate copyright or other rights like plagiarism. The manuscript can be written in good and correct English or Indonesian. Articles written in Indonesian must be in EYD standard, and the words used are standard language (according to the Great Dictionary of the Indonesian Language). In contrast, if written in English, it must be checked using a spell checker (American English).
Manuscript Format
Proper manuscript formatting is essential when uploading an article to a journal, as each journal has guidelines that must be followed. Authors must ensure their manuscript is well-structured, including sections such as title, abstract, keywords, introduction, methods, results, discussion, acknowledgments (if required), conclusion, and bibliography. Manuscripts are written in Microsoft Word format on A4 paper size, with the right-left-top-bottom margins being 2 cm and 1 line spaced. Article writing guidelines/templates can be downloaded here.
Title
The title is the first element seen by the reader. The title must reflect the content and focus of the research, be brief and concise, and cover the essence of the research without containing excessive or ambiguous terms. The title is written using the Cambria Bold 14 pt font, sentence case, which means that capital letters are only written at the beginning of the title and must be aligned right and left.
Author's Name
When listing the author's name, follow the format specified by the journal, including the order of the name, without using academic titles, and write the complete institutional affiliation, including faculty, address, and country. Also, pay attention to adding information such as email address.
Abstract and Keywords
The abstract should stand alone and be written in plain English, which means no citations in the abstract. Think of it as an advertisement for your article. The abstract should tell potential readers what you did and highlight the main findings. Avoid technical jargon and uncommon abbreviations. You should be accurate, concise, clear, and specific. Use words that reflect precise meaning; the abstract should be exact and honest. Please adhere to the word limit (100-250 words). Keywords are the labels of your manuscript and are essential for proper indexing and searching. Therefore, keywords should represent the content and highlights of your article. Keywords should be 5 in alphabetical order with a writing format Cambria 10 PT, italics.
Introduction
The Introduction section is written using Cambria font, 11 pt. The author must provide adequate background covering the importance of this research, give references to relevant previous research, and provide a gap analysis explaining the position of the research's novelty compared to previous research. Therefore, the introduction must be well-structured to attract the reader's attention and provide a comprehensive overview of what will be discussed in the article. The purpose of the research must be written at the end of the introduction section.
Research Methods
The method must describe the research design, time, place, sampling method, and variables. The process must be explained sufficiently to allow the reader to understand and comprehend. If using equations/formulas, the equation number must be given, and the description of the equation must be explained in paragraph form. All tables and figures must be referred to in the text. The table caption is above the table, while the figure caption must be written below the figure. Tables and figures that are the results of your measurements do not need to be written as sources. The method is written in this section using the Cambria 11-point font format.
Results and Discussion
The research results must be explained in detail in this section. This section contains analysis, arguments, researcher's opinions, and comparisons with previous similar and relevant research findings. The research results must be supplemented with a statement highlighting the findings based on the facts/data, not just a description of the facts/data. The tables and images to be explained must be placed in adjacent positions while using reference sentences. Avoid writing reference sentences using location words. Tables must be written in the center position. The table's contents can be written using a smaller font than the usual size, such as 10pt or 9pt.
Conclusions
The conclusion contains statements about the research results and answers to the research objectives. The author can write recommendations/suggestions based on the results if necessary. In this section, the results must be drawn, and the contribution of the research to the relevant field of science must be stated. In addition, suggestions for future research can be given so that the direction of further research can be identified.
Acknowledgments (if required)
Acknowledgments are written at the end of the article before the references. They can be addressed to those who helped in the research, both individuals and non-individuals (organizations, sponsors, etc.). The research funder can be written in this section without mentioning the amount of funding.
References
Please use a reference manager application like EndNote, Mendeley, Zotero, etc. All publications cited in the text must be included as a reference list. References are numbered sequentially as they appear in the text. Ensure that every reference cited in the text is also in the reference list (and vice versa). The minimum number of references is 15. Use references from journals, at least 80% of which have been taken from the last 10 years.
