Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Mei 2014 dengan menganalisis data parameter fisik (geomorfologi, erosi/akresi, kemiringan pantai, jarak tumbuhan dari pantai, tinggi gelombang, dan kisaran pasang rata rata) sebagai variabel oceanografi dan parameter sosial ekonomi menggunakan konsep Coastal and Vulnerability Index (CVI) yang diadaptasi dengan kondisi perairan setempat. Metode pengambilan data lapangan dengan mengamati sepanjang garis pantai menggunakan sel ukuran 50x50 m sehingga didapatkan 18 sel. Hasil penelitan Kerentanan Ekosistem Pantai berdasarkan parameter fisik sebagian besar termasuk dalam kategori kerentanan rendah < 20,5, namun bila dikaitkan dengan faktor sosial ekonomi masyarakat termasuk dalam kategori kerentanan sangat tinggi, Nilai CVI sebagian besar berada di tingkat rendah dengan kisaran < 20,5., kecuali sel 5 pada kategori tingkat kerentanan menengah (CVI 23,09), sedangkan sel 6 dan 18 pada kategori tingkat kerentanan tinggi (CVI 25,82). Sendang Biru Beach is located at District Sumbermanjing Wetan, Malang Regency, should be managed because of near by the Sempu Island Sanctuary. Many community activities could affect vulnerability of coastal ecosystems, so it is necessary to study on vulnerability of coastal ecosystems to anticipate vulnerability impact and to support environmental conservation. This study aimed to determine vulnerability condition of coastal ecosystems based on physical parameters as oceanography variables and socio-economic parameters, and to know the value of coastal ecosystem vulnerability index at the Sendang Biru Beach. The study was conducted on May 2014 by analyzing the physical parameters data (geomorphology, erosion / accretion, coastal slope, vegetation distance from the coast, wave height, and average tidal range) as oceanographic variables and the socio-economic parameters using Coastal Vulnerability Index (CVI) concept that is adapted to the coastal waters. Data collection methods on the field by observing coastline using 50x50 meter cell so it gained 18 cells.
