Metode yang digunakan dalam pengambilan data penutupan karang adalah line transek dengan skala sepanjang 50 meter sejajar garis pantai dengan jarak antar line transek yaitu 10 meter. Pengambilan data kerapatan lamun menggunakan kuadran transek dengan ukuran 1 x 1 meter. Kelimpahan bulu babi pada ekosistem terumbu karang dan padang lamun menggunakan kuadran transek dengan ukuran 5 x 5 meter. Penutupan substrat dasar pada lingkungan ekosistem terumbu karang di Pulau Panjang didominasi oleh pecahan karang dengan persentase sebesar 36,19%, karang mati 30,53%, pasir 30,14% dan karang hidup 3,15%. Sedangakan kerapatan lamun di Pulau Panjang sebesar 67 ind/ m². Kelimpahan bulu babi di Pulau Panjang menyebar baik di lingkungan terumbu karang dan lingkungan padang lamun dengan jenis Diadema setosum dan Echinothrix calamaris kelimpahan total di lingkungan terumbu karang sebesar 86 individu dan lingkungan padang lamun sebesar 26 individu. Lingkungan dengan tingkat bahan organik tinggi lebih disukai oleh bulu babi. Analisis isi lambung bulu babi Diadema setosum yaitu algae 65,72% dan bahan anorganik 34.28%, sedangakan jenis bulu babi Echinothrix calamaris yaitu bahan anorganik 60.24% dan algae 39.76%. Panjang island waters has some echinoderms one of the sea urchins. Sea urchins are scattered in the seagrass ecosystems and coral reefs. The existence of sea urchins affect on coral reefs, because it can control for the development of our main mikroalga and the increasing of sea urchins will negatively affect seagrass ecosystems. The purpose of this research was to determine the abundance of sea urchins and the relation of sea urchins abundance with the characteristics of habitat. The sampling method used in the coral cover data retrieval was line transec to the scale along the 50 metere parallel to the shoreline with transek line spacing 10 meters. Seagrass density data collection use 1 x 1 m quadrant transect. The abundance of sea urchins on coral reef ecosystems and the seagrass used the quadrant transek with the size of 5 x 5 meters. The cover of the base substrate on coral reef ecosystem environment in panjang island is dominated by a rublbe with the percentage of 36,19%, dead coral 30,53%, sand 30, 14%, living coral and 3,15%. The seagrass density of 67 ind/m².
