ANALISIS THERMOELASTO-HYDRODYNAMIC PADA MULTILAYER GAS FOIL THRUST BEARING DENGAN VARIASI MATERIAL PELAPIS MENGGUNAKAN PENDEKATAN FLUID STRUCTURE INTERACTION (FSI)

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis pengaruh variasi material pelapis (polimer, komposit, logam, dan keramik) terhadap fenomena thermo-elasto-hydrodynamic pada multilayer gas foil thrust bearing yang beroperasi pada kecepatan 100.000 RPM. Tantangan utama pada mesin berkecepatan tinggi ini adalah interaksi thermal-fluid-solid kompleks yang dapat membatasi kapasitas beban serta stabilitas sistem. Melalui simulasi fluid-structure interaction (FSI) tiga dimensi, ditemukan bahwa penggunaan pelapis meningkatkan kinerja bantalan dibandingkan kondisi tanpa pelapis. Material Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) menunjukkan hasil paling optimal dengan kapasitas beban tertinggi mencapai 99,91 N (naik 1,28%), penurunan suhu middle foil menjadi 403,05 K, serta reduksi equivalent stress pada top foil sebesar 8,69%. Peringkat performa selanjutnya diikuti oleh PEEK, YSZ, Ti-6Al-4V, dan NiCr+hBN. Hasil ini mengindikasikan bahwa karakteristik koefisien gesek dan modulus elastisitas yang rendah pada material polimer sangat efektif dalam mendistribusikan tekanan fluida sekaligus meminimalkan distorsi termal. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa pemilihan material pelapis yang tepat sangat krusial untuk menjaga stabilitas operasional pada aplikasi turbomachinery berkecepatan tinggi secara berkelanjutan.
