Keberadaan mangrove memiliki peran utama sebagai nilai ekologis, fisik, dan ekonomis yang tinggi, namun jika tidak dikelola dengan bijak, mangrove sangat rentan dengan kerusakan. Ekosistem mangrove di sekitar pantai utara jawa merupakan salah satu ekosistem mangrove yang mengalami degradasi. Pengelolaan kawasan hutan mangrove diperlukan agar hutan mangrove tetap lestari dan dapat bermanfaat bagi masyarakat hingga masa yang akan datang. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui indeks kesehatan mangrove di kawasan hutan mangrove Desa Bedono, Kecamatan Sayung, Kabupaten Demak. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan November 2023. Lokasi pengamatan terbagi menjadi 2 stasiun. Pada Stasiun 1 didominasi mangrove dengan jenis Rhizophora mucronata sedangkan pada Stasiun 2 ditemukan mangrove dengan jenis Rhizophora mucronata dan Avicennia marina . Data yang digunakan dalam dasar pengelolaan kawasan hutan mangrove dapat berasal dari menghitung Mangrove Health Index (MHI). Data yang digunakan meliputi diameter rata-rata batang, kerapatan anakan, tutupan kanopi mangrove, dan parameter perairan (suhu, pH, dan salinitas). Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode observasi dengan pengamatan secara langsung disertai dengan analisis dan penyajian data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa di Desa Bedono, Kecamatan Sayung, Kabupaten Demak memiliki kategori Mangrove Health Index (MHI) moderate dengan rata-rata nilai 54,25%. The mangrove ecosystem is vegetation that can grow under the influence of sea tides. The existence of mangroves has a major role as high ecological, physical and economic value, but if not managed wisely, mangroves are very vulnerable to damage. The mangrove ecosystem around the north coast of Java is one of the mangrove ecosystems that is experiencing degradation. Management of mangrove forest areas is necessary so that mangrove forests remain sustainable and can be useful for the community in the future. The aim of this research is to determine the mangrove health index in the mangrove forest area of Bedono Village, Sayung District, Demak Regency. This research was carried out in November 2023. The observation location was divided into 2 stations. At Station 1, mangroves are dominated by the Rhizophora mucronata type, while at Station 2, mangroves are found with the Rhizophora mucronata and Avicennia marina types. The data used in basic management of mangrove forest areas can come from calculating the Mangrove Health Index (MHI). The data used include average stem diameter, tiller density, mangrove canopy cover, and water parameters (temperature, pH, and salinity). The research method used is the observation method with direct observation accompanied by analysis and presentation of data. The research results show that Bedono Village, Sayung District, Demak Regency has a moderate Mangrove Health Index (MHI) category with an average value of 54.25%. }, issn = {2407-7690}, pages = {731--738} doi = {10.14710/jmr.v13i4.43270}, url = {https://ejournal3.undip.ac.id/index.php/jmr/article/view/43270} }
