Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi Rhizophora mucronata sebagai fotoremediator logam berat Cu. Analisis kandungan logam berat dari sampel air, sedimen, daun, akar, dan serasah mangrove dilakukan dengan metode AAS ( Atomic Absorption Spectophotometry). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya kandungan Cu dalam sampel air, sedimen, daun, akar dan serasah mangrove. Berdasarkan perhitungan Faktor Biokonsentrasi dan Fator Translokasi, mangrove R. mucronata merupakan tubuhan excluder yang mempunyai mekanisme rhizofiltrasi. Copper (Cu) is commonly used as dye mordant in textile dyeing. Phytoremediation is the use of plants for the process of decontamination of pollutants. Mangrove Rhizophora sp. is often studied as a plant that can accumulate heavy metals, so it can be used as a phytoremediator. This research was conducted to determine the potential of R . mucronata as a phytoremediation agent for heavy metals (Cu). Samples of water, sediment, leaves, roots, and mangrove litter were analyzed for heavy metals content using the AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectophotometry) method. The results showed that water, sediment, leaves, roots, and mangrove litter contained heavy metals Cu.
