Analisis Pengalaman Literasi Informasi Peternak Sapi dalam Penanggulangan Penyakit Mulut dan Kuku (PMK) di Desa Wonorejo Tahun 2022

Abstract

The article is titled “Analysing the information literacy of cattle farmers in tackling foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) in Wonorejo village in 2022”. The study aims to understand the information literacy of cattle farmers in tackling foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) in Wonorejo village in 2022. The study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data was collected through observation, interviews and documentation with seven informants who are cattle farmers. The research analysis used The Big Six information literacy model from Michael B. Eisenberg and Robert E. Berkowitz, which includes identifying information needs, information search strategies, locating and accessing information, using information, processing information, and evaluating information. The results of the study show that the information literacy of farmers is still not optimal. Most farmers obtain information about PMK from other farmers, social media, and their local community, while access to official information sources is still limited. The low level of information literacy is influenced by a lack of education, limited use of information technology, and educational and age-related factors. One possible solution is to increase the number of awareness campaigns and the distribution of official information, so that farmers can understand and make better use of information related to PMK.
