College libraries play a central role as catalysts in the formation of academic communities, providing physical and digital spaces that facilitate collaboration and networking. Social capital, in turn, significantly facilitates students' and researchers' access to tertiary information sources and expert knowledge, especially through bridging and linking. Furthermore, information literacy has been shown to increase students' academic and social participation, positively correlated with academic achievement. The study also highlights the existence of information literacy inequality, especially in certain student groups, which has the potential to lead to social fragmentation and academic exclusion.
