FRAMING MEDIA TEMPO.CO TERHADAP BERITA MENGENAI PEMBANGUNAN IKN

Abstract

This thesis is a study of Tempo.co's media framing analysis of news about the construction of IKN for the period July 17-August 17, 2024. This research aims to provide an overview of the media's attitude through the description of the framing carried out by Tempo.co in loading news about the construction of IKN for the period July 17-August 17, 2024. Through news analysis with the framing method and a qualitative approach, this research identifies Tempo.co's attitude towards the news of the IKN development for the period July 17-August 17, 2024. The results of the study are that Tempo.co in its reporting does not only provide a positive representation of the construction of IKN, but also provides a representation that is more likely to be negative, besides that it also actively changes people's views and opinions on issues circulating regarding the construction of IKN from negative to positive and vice versa from positive to negative. Then, Tempo.co criticized the construction of IKN by narrating more that the construction of IKN had many impacts on the environment and surrounding communities, besides that many of the claims made by Jokowi did not match the reality. Tempo.co acts as an agent that helps build readers' understanding by highlighting the criticisms of political observers, economic observers, political analysts, political experts, and even professors who tend to be negative and against the construction of IKN. The conclusion of this study provides valuable insights into how the media can contribute to the development of IKN.
