Abstract

Abstract
PT XYZ is a garment company with a make-to-order production system. One of the production processes
is printing. Based on defect data for 12 periods in 2022, the total defect percentage is 0.314% which
according to Six Sigma theory, the percentage of defects to the ideal production amount is 0.0003%.
Therefore, this research aims to propose solutions to improve the quality of the in-house printing process
at PT XYZ. This is done because of the high number of defects in the in-house printing process that should
have been minimized in the previous process. The researcher used the Six Sigma method to be able to try
to provide solutions based on quantitative data along with qualitative knowledge that has been obtained
from field employees who certainly have deeper experience and understanding than the researcher.
Based on this research, it is found that the average sigma level of PT XYZ's in-house printing process in
2022 is at a sigma level of 4.58 which certainly has not reached the ideal sigma level of 6. The largest
defect is obtained by the snag/pull/pick defect which is one of the fabric defects, not the print defect, so
then analyze the causes of the largest defect using the fishbone diagram and propose an improvement
solution for these causes.
