Abstract

This study analyzes the role of Aisyiyah in the early childhood education in Semarang during 1967-2015, so the background of the establishment of children's education institutions. This article uses a historical method consisting of heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The approach used is an institutional social approach. The approach is used to analyze the role of Aisyiyah institutions in developing early childhood education institutions in the City of Semarang. The establishment of the Aisyiyah Kindergarten Park Bustanul Athfal by Aisyiyah Semarang City began with the dissatisfaction of Aisyiyah members in the ranks of the (village) towards the doctrine of communism in early childhood education institutions in Semarang City around the 1950s. This educational institution continues to develop over time. In addition to kindergarten, Aisyiyah, the City of Semarang also established play groups, and day care parks for children aged zero to five years.
