STUDI PENDAHULUAN PENGARUH SELF-COMPASSION WRITING PADA MAHASISWA DENGAN DEPRESI RINGAN

Abstract
Penelitian ini merupakan studi pendahuluan yang disusun untuk mengetahui efektifitas self-compassion writing untuk menurunkan gejala depresi pada mahasiswa dengan depresi ringan. Desain yang digunakan yaitu pretestposttest control group design. Populasi pada penelitian ini merupakan mahasiswa Fakultas Teknik Universitas Diponegoro angkatan 2018. Pemilihan sampel dilakukan menggunakan teknik convenience sampling. Jumlah sampel yang mengikuti penelitian terdiri dari enam subjek yang dibagi menjadi dua kelompok. Pengambilan data menggunakan Beck Depression Inventory-II. Uji hipotesis menggunakan uji Mann-Whitney U menunjukkan nilai signifikansi p = 0,658 (p> 0,05). Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan pada penurunan gejala depresi di kedua kelompok. Sedangkan pada uji N-Gain Score, didapatkan rata-rata di kelompok eksperimen g = 17,1 (g< 40). Hal tersebut mengindikasikan bahwa self-compassion writing tidak efektif untuk menurunkan gejala depresi di kelompok eksperimen. Jumlah sampel yang kecil menyebabkan hasil analisis statistik menjadi kurang bermakna bila diterapkan pada populasi. Meskipun demikian, berdasarkan analisis data tambahan melalui wawancara, self-compassion writing dapat mendorong proses kognitif individu untuk mengambil insight dari pengalaman tidak menyenangkan yang pernah terjadi. Self-compassion writing dapat menjadi jembatan bagi individu dengan dengan depresi ringan yang cenderung menghindari pikiran tentang hal-hal yang tidak menyenangkan untuk menghadapi hal tersebut.
