Pada saat Covid 19, terjadi fenomena baru terhadap penggunaan ruang publik. Hal ini dimana masyarakat lebih ditekankan untuk melaksanakan karantina mandiri dirumah. Selama melaksanakan karantina tersebut, masyarakat tidak langsung berdiam diri. Namun malah memanfaatkan waktu luangnya dengan mengisi ruang publik. Salah satu pengguna terbesar dari ruang publik ini adalah anak-anak yang mana keberadaan ruang publik tersebut dapat membantu perkembangan fisik dan interaksi sosialnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik anak dalam menggunakan ruang publik di masa Covid 19 dengan menggunakan metode behavioural mapping. Sample penelitian ini adalah 50 anak usia 7-12 tahun di Lapangan Merdeka Pematangsiantar yang dikumpulkan datanya dengan kuisioner dan observasi. Hasil analisis karakteristik anak-anak di Lapangan Merdeka Pematangsiantar pada masa Covid 19 berdasarkan behavioural mapping menunjukan bahwa adanya kebutuhan penyesuaian pada behavioural setting khususnya terkait dengan physical activities dengan memperbanyak fasilitas yang mendukung komponen tersebut sehingga anak-anak lebih leluasa dalam melaksanakan aktifitas fisik tanpa takut melanggar protokol kesehatan. Sedangkan pada place setting menunjukan bahwa adanya kebutuhan penambahan play space, dan penyesuaian letak pedestrian ways.
