Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana pengaruh perendaman pelat stainless steel 316 pada larutan asam nitrat (HNO3) dan asam sulfat (H2SO4) terhadap laju korosi dan perubahan sifat mekaniknya, khususnya kekuatan tarik dan impak. Spesimen direndam dalam tiap larutan yang masing – masing berkonsentrasi 1,0 M pada suhu ruang selama 14 dan 28 hari. Pengujian laju korosi dilakukan menggunakan metode weight loss, sedangkan pengujian sifat mekanik dilakukan dengan pengujian tarik dan uji impak menggunakan mesin impak charpy. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semakin lama waktu perendaman menyebabkan laju korosi yang semakin tinggi pada kedua media asam. Berdasarkan hasil weight loss, spesimen yang direndam HNO3 menunjukkan nilai laju korosi yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan spesimen yang direndam H2SO4, terutama selama waktu 28 hari. Pada pengujian tarik, peningkatan weight loss cenderung diikuti oleh penurunan beberapa parameter mekanik, seperti yield strength, modulus elastisitas, dan fracture energy. Sementara itu, hasil uji impak menunjukkan bahwa nilai dari absorbed energy dan impact strength pada spesimen yang direndam H2SO4 lebih rendah dibandingkan HNO3, yang menandakan penurunan ketangguhan material yang lebih besar. Secara keseluruhan, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jenis larutan dan durasi perendaman berpengaruh terhadap laju korosi dan kekuatan mekanik stainless steel 316, di mana HNO3 cenderung menghasilkan nilai laju korosi lebih tinggi, sedangkan H2SO4 memberikan penurunan sifat impak yang lebih besar.
