Abstract
This study is grounded in the premise that high-quality human resources, particularly employees who demonstrate strong work discipline and motivation, play a pivotal role in enhancing organizational performance. Improvements in work discipline and motivation are expected to support institutions in achieving their predetermined performance targets. The objective of this study is to examine the influence of work discipline and work motivation on employee performance at the Department of Population and Civil Registration of Magelang City. This research employs a quantitative approach, utilizing a saturated sampling technique with a total of 44 respondents, all of whom are employees of the Department of Population and Civil Registration of Magelang City. Data were processed using SPSS version 26. The analytical methods employed include validity testing, reliability testing, normality testing, correlation analysis, simple and multiple linear regression analysis, significance testing, and the coefficient of determination analysis. The findings indicate that both work discipline and work motivation, whether individually (partially) or jointly (simultaneously), exert a positive and significant influence on employee performance at the aforementioned department. Work discipline demonstrates a positive and significant effect, with a regression coefficient of 0.506, a t-value of 4.459, and a significance level of 66.8%. Similarly, work motivation shows a positive and significant effect, with a regression coefficient of 0.421, a t-value of 5.026, and a significance level of 69.5%. The coefficient of determination (R²) is 0.794, which implies that work discipline and work motivation collectively account for 79.4% of the variance in employee performance, while the remaining 20.6% is attributable to other variables not examined in this study. It is anticipated that the results of this study can contribute to enhancing employee performance through the reinforcement of work discipline and the cultivation of strong work motivation, thereby enabling employees to meet established performance targets more effectively.
