Peranan Terpaan Media Sosial (Instagram dan TikTok) pada Generasi Z dalam Implementasi Kebijakan Keterbukaan Informasi Publik di Kota Semarang
Abstract
This research aims to explore the role of social media, especially Instagram and TikTok, in implementing public information disclosure policies in Semarang City, with a focus on Generation Z as the main users and the Semarang City Diskominfo as policy actors. The background to this research includes the development of information technology and the increasing use of social media in Indonesia, which will reach 167 million users in January 2023, with Generation Z as the most active group, thereby potentially increasing the accessibility of public information disclosure policies. The aim of this research is to understand the role of social media exposure in Generation Z regarding information disclosure and the factors that influence the role of social media exposure of the Semarang City Government. The method used is a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews with informants from Generation Z and the Semarang City Diskominfo. The research results show that Generation Z has a high awareness of the importance of information disclosure. However, there are challenges in digital literacy, inaccurate information on social media, and their low desire to participate in public discussions. Findings also indicate negative interactions between the younger generation and the government, which is caused by the government's low response and negative perceptions of the credibility of information on social media. The conclusion of this research confirms that social media, namely Instagram and TikTok, have significant potential in increasing public information openness and community participation. Therefore, further efforts are needed from the government to increase Generation Z's interaction and trust in information conveyed via social media, as well as educational programs to increase digital literacy among young users.
