Keanekaramagaman plankton tertinggi pada periode 1 berkisar 1,24-1,41, sedangkan pada periode 2 berkisar 1,78-2,34 dengan kriteria tergolong rendah. Kekayaan plankton indeks Margalef tertinggi pada periode 1 berkisar 0,97-1,93 sedangkan periode 2 berkisar 2,38-3,56 kriteria ini termasuk rendah. Indeks Bray-Curtis memiliki kisaran nilai 0,91-0,98 yang menunjukan tidak adanya perbedaan pada jumlah spesies. Plankton is an aquatic organism that has an important role for aquatic biota. The purpose of this study was to determine the abundance and species richness of plankton in the Buffer Waters of the Archipelago Capital in East Kalimantan. The method used was random sampling, plankton collection was carried out at the surface of the water and a depth of 5m. Sampling time for period 1 in February and period 2 in March 2024. The results showed that the abundance of plankton in period 1 ranged from 100-873 ind/l and abundance in period 2 ranged from 446-2420 ind/l. the highest abundance in period 1 at station 2 at 5m depth with a total of 873 ind/l. the highest abundance in period 2 at station 1 at 5m depth with a total of 2420 ind/l. The highest plankton diversity in period 1 ranged from 1.24-1.41, while in period 2 ranged from 1.78-2.34 with criteria classified as low. The highest Margalef index plankton richness in period 1 ranged from 0.97-1.93 while period 2 ranged from 2.38-3.56 this criterion is low.
