Abstract
Since 2024, Indonesia’s Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program has been promoted as a national strategy against child malnutrition, with a budget that reached Rp268 trillion in 2026. Its implementation, however, has been marked by repeated food poisoning cases and complaints about food quality, which are widely discussed on TikTok, the platform most used by Generation Z. This study examines the effect of exposure to MBG information on TikTok and students’ attitudes toward food quality on the learning motivation of students at SMAN 39 East Jakarta. A quantitative explanatory design was applied to 110 students selected through purposive sampling, all of whom had received MBG meals, held an active TikTok account, and had seen MBG-related content. Data were collected with an online questionnaire using a four-point Likert scale and analyzed with two simple linear regression models after validity, reliability, and classical assumption tests. Exposure to MBG information on TikTok has a negative and significant effect on learning motivation (B = −0.297; R² = 8.5%), whereas attitude toward food quality has a positive and significant effect (B = 0.480; R² = 23.8%). Students’ direct experience of food quality thus explains far more of their learning motivation than the content they encounter on social media.
