However, the reality on the ground shows that discrimination against female athletes still exists. In this context, the mass media plays a crucial role in constructing meaning about this social reality, but the emphasis of the narrative shown by the media when reporting on the issue of discrimination is still inseparable from the dominance of the media’s capitalist logic and patriarchal culture. This study applies Robert N. Entman’s model to analyze the framing of discrimination against female athletes on Detik.com during the 2024 Paris Olympics in eleven hard news articles from July to December 2024. The results of the study show three dynamic framing patterns: advocacy journalism as resistance to the status quo on strict moral issues; commodified advocacy journalism when the narrative of defending rights is packaged as commercial sensational drama; and controversy journalism that amplifies identity conflicts without resolution. This ideological inconsistency due to commercialization is in line with Detik.com’s editorial characteristics, which prioritize news speed over completeness of information, thereby breaking down the complexity of discrimination issues into commodified dramatic narrative fragments.}, pages = {29--40} url = {https://ejournal3.undip.ac.id/index.php/interaksi-online/article/view/54919} }
