Abstract
This study aims to analyze the interpersonal communication patterns of adolescents from broken homes in Kayen District, Pati Regency, and its impact on their social interactions with peers. Using a phenomenological approach, this study explores the subjective experiences of eight adolescents as the main informants, supported by perspectives from parents/guardians, teachers, community leaders, and peers. The results of the study indicate that there are heterogeneous interpersonal communication patterns in adolescents from broken homes, ranging from closed communication due to trauma and insecurity, to open communication driven by the need for social validation. An interesting finding is the role of social media as a "pseudo-safe space" used to express feelings, shape self image, and seek emotional support. However, dependence on social media also strengthens the tendency for social isolation and creates the illusion of connectedness. Other findings reveal that peers play an ambivalent role on the one hand as a source of support, but on the other hand can be a trigger for social pressure due to differences in background and perspective. This study concludes that the presence of an empathetic social environment and the existence of supportive communication patterns from adults around adolescents play a major role in strengthening their resilience. In addition, the need for a safe and open communication space is key to helping teenagers from broken homes build healthy social interactions
