Abstract
As the national football governing body, PSSI is expected to maintain public trust through professionalism and transparency. However, the sudden dismissal of Shin Tae-yong as head coach in early 2025 sparked widespread backlash on social media. This study examines the impact of information exposure regarding the dismissal on PSSI’s reputation through public perception of PSSI. Using a quantitative explanatory approach, data were collected via online questionnaires from 100 X social media users (aged 18–34) who followed the developmentsof the Indonesian national team during Shin Tae-yong;s tenure. Structural Equation Modeling with Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) was used to analyze relationships among exposure, perception, and reputation. Results show high information exposure, negative reputations, and largely negative perceptions due to dissatisfaction and lack of transparency. Perception significantly mediated the impact of information on PSSI’s reputation, aligning with Agenda-Setting Theory 2.0 and Expectancy-Value Theory.
