PENGARUH COLORING MANDALA TERHADAP NEGATIVE EMOTIONAL STATE PADA MAHASISWA

Abstract

Negative emotional state adalah perasaan negatif berupa depresi, kecemasan, dan stres yang dapat melibatkan rangsangan fisiologis, pengalaman sadar, dan ekspresi. Prevalensi negative emosional state pada mahasiswa di Indonesia mencapai 52.7%. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat ada tidaknya penurunan tingkat negative emotional state serta menjelaskan pengalaman subjek setelah memperoleh intervensi coloring mandala selama 7 hari berturut-turut.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen yang menggunakan randomized pretest-posttest control group design dengan mixed method. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 89 mahasiswa Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Diponegoro angkatan 2015-2017 yang dari hasil skrining menunjukkan tingkat extremely severe pada salah satu skor DASS 21.Kelompok eksperimen terdiri dari32 individu dan 49 individu kelas kontrol yang dipilih secara random.Pengumpulan data hasil eksperimen dengan menggunakan Depression Anxiety Stres Scale 21(DASS 21) versi Indonesia, sedangkan data kualitatif menggunakan FGD dan wawancara.Hasil analisis Paired Sample T-testmenunjukkan adanya penurunan yang signifikan pada skor depresi, kecemasan, danstres setelah subjek mendapatkan coloring mandala selama tujuh hari berturut-turut, Skor depresi menunjukkan rata-rata penurunan 6,13 (= 16,81dan = 10,68), skor kecemasan menunjukkan rata-rata penurunan 8,43 (= 24,43dan ), dan skor stres menunjukkan rata-rata penurunan 7,9 (= 26,12dan = 17,12) (P<0,05). Hasil analisa kualitatif menunjukkan bahwa pengalaman yang dirasakan individu saat melakukan coloring mandala antara lain individu merasakan tenang saat proses mewarnai, individu menjadikan coloring mandala sebagai media untuk meluapkan emosi saat terjadi masalah dan senang saat melihat hasil mewarnai seolah telah membuat sebuah karya.
