ANALISIS KUALITAS AIR SUNGAI BRINGIN KOTA SEMARANG MENGGUNAKAN METODE INDEKS PENCEMARAN (Studi Kasus Kondisi Sungai Bringin pada Tanggal 10 Juli 2014)

Abstract


Bringin River is one river that flows on the west side of the Semarang City. The result of the survey show there are a few things that potentially give elements of pollutants into the river, such as domestic waste disposal system of settlements or activities of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) on the watershed Bringin that still flowing the liquid waste directly in to the river through out the rainwater drainage, the presence of rice fields which flows residual agricultural activity directly into the river, and then the clearing of land for the purposes of settlement and industrial sites that located right on the side of the river. Using the method of Pollution Index, this study aims to determine the newest of water quality conditions in Bringin River along the factors that affect that quality. Through the water quality conditions, hereafter can be determined subsequently known exact designation of the river water and the steps of the pollution control management that will be implemented on the Bringin River.

The use of Pollution Index (IP) method shows Bringin River on July 10th, 2014 in Segment One, Three and Nine are on “Cemar Berat" status, whereas Bringin River in Segment One was on "Cemar Ringan" status, and the last for the Bringin River in segment one, segment two, segment four, segments five, segment six, tributary Bringin River segment , segment Eight and Ten are in “Cemar Sedang" status. The condition of the water quality status is influenced by many factors. Those factors come from inside and outside the river. External factors is the entry of pollutants into the river through out some media, like from domestic liquid waste runoff, through water runoff from agricultural areas that contain many particles and residual fertilizer which not absorbed by the plant or livestock waste that entering the river due to be carried by the flow of rain water.
