Abstract

The development of a city has an impact on the quality of life of its citizens. Semarang as a city has succeeded in increasing the average life expectancy of 77.69 in 2022. The public transportation service is certainly responded to differently depending on the needs of the elderly. This research identified the perceptions of the elderly’s accessibility to improve the services.

The method used is a quantitative method by distributing 100 questionnaires to elderly residents in the Semarang City Center Area to measure the perceptions of BRT services. The data were then processed using descriptive statistical analysis methods to describe their perceptions of BRT services. Scoring analysis was carried out to determine the accessibility of BRT services as elderly-friendly public transportation.

This study concluded that overall BRT and feeder services were included in the good accessibility with a percentage reaching 62%. Other results are that there are several indicators that are still quite bad, namely the distance to transit point and waiting time for fleet arrival, Therefore, improvements are needed in these indicators so that the BRT services of Semarang City reach the very good criteria and can be declared as elderly-friendly public transportation.
