The government has made efforts to encourage male contraceptive acceptors' participation through the Free Vasectomy Program. So far, the participation of vasectomy acceptors in Laweyan District is still relatively low, at less than 5%. This study aims to evaluate the Free Vasectomy Program in increasing male contraceptive acceptors' participation in Laweyan District, Surakarta City, and to analyze the inhibiting factors. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. Based on six evaluation criteria according to William Dunn, the Free Vasectomy Program in Laweyan District is assessed to have succeeded in terms of adequacy and accuracy but has not succeeded in terms of effectiveness, efficiency, equity, and responsiveness. The main factors inhibiting the Free Vasectomy Program in Laweyan District include low education levels, certain beliefs or religions, and socio-cultural factors that prevent some community members from fully accepting the program. The government should enhance male contraceptive acceptors' participation in the Free Vasectomy Program by strengthening community-based socialization strategies through Focus Group Discussions (FGD) at the neighborhood level; expanding access and outreach by disseminating information through WhatsApp groups, distributing leaflets, and posting posters; as well as forming male family planning associations in Laweyan District as a communication, education, and motivation platform for prospective acceptors.}, pages = {556--568} doi = {10.14710/jppmr.v14i3.53615}, url = {https://ejournal3.undip.ac.id/index.php/jppmr/article/view/53615} }
