Abstract

Community-Based Tourism (CBT) is a strategy for sustainable tourism development that emphasizes the role of local communities in its implementation. One example of CBT implementation is the establishment of the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) in Kampung Jurang Blimbing, Tembalang, Semarang City. This study aims to analyze the application of CBT principles in Kampung Jurang Blimbing and identify the supporting and inhibiting factors that influence it. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document studies. The results show that the implementation of CBT in Kampung Jurang Blimbing, as carried out through the main tasks of Pokdarwis, has not fully aligned with CBT principles, particularly in terms of community involvement. Several supporting factors for CBT implementation include community self-funded contributions to cultural events and external support from academics and university students. Meanwhile, some inhibiting factors include the low participation and engagement of both the community and Pokdarwis administrators due to work commitments and time constraints, the lack of public awareness regarding the economic benefits of tourism, differing economic priorities, and the limited role of the government in providing financial support for tourism development. The recommendations from this study include suggestions for Pokdarwis Jurang Blimbing and directions for future research.
