Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengestimasi potensi lestari ( Maximum Sustainable Yield /MSY) dan menganalisis pola musim penangkapan cumi-cumi yang didaratkan di Pelabuhan Perikanan Samudera (PPS) Belawan. Data yang digunakan adalah data produksi dan upaya penangkapan cumi-cumi pada periode tahun 2018–2022, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan model surplus produksi Schaefer dan Indeks Musim Penangkapan (IMP). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai MSY cumi-cumi sebesar 3.886,62 ton/tahun dengan effort optimum (Fopt) sebanyak 3.078 trip/tahun. Rata-rata produksi tahunan berada di bawah nilai MSY, namun peningkatan effort yang signifikan disertai penurunan CPUE dari 2,07 ton/trip (2018) menjadi 1,66 ton/trip (2022) mengindikasikan tekanan eksploitasi yang meningkat. Analisis IMP menunjukkan musim puncak penangkapan terjadi pada bulan Mei, Oktober, November, dan Desember, yang diindikasikan dengan nilai IMP >100% dan peningkatan kelimpahan klorofil-a (0,60–0,69 mg/L). Hubungan positif antara IMP dan klorofil-a menunjukkan bahwa dinamika oseanografi memiliki kaitan terhadap kelimpahan cumi-cumi di perairan WPPNRI 571 Sumatera Utara. The waters of North Sumatra, located within Fisheries Management Area of the Republic of Indonesia (FMA-RI) 571, are known to have a high potential of squid (Loligo sp). This study aims to estimate the Maximum Sustainable Yield (MSY) and analyze the fishing season patterns of squid landed at the Oceanic Fishing Port (PPS) of Belawan. The data used include squid production and fishing effort from 2018 to 2022, which were analyzed using the Schaefer surplus production model and the Fishing Season Index (IMP). The results indicate that the MSY of squid is 3,886.62 tons/year with an optimum effort (Fopt) of 3,078 trips/year. Although the annual production remains below the MSY, the significant increase in fishing effort accompanied by a decrease in CPUE—from 2.07 tons/trip in 2018 to 1.66 tons/trip in 2022—suggests increasing exploitation pressure. The IMP analysis shows that peak fishing seasons occur in May, October, November, and December, indicated by IMP values exceeding 100% and an increase in chlorophyll-a concentrations (0.60–0.69 mg/L). The positive correlation between IMP and chlorophyll-a implies that oceanographic dynamics play an important role in influencing the availability of squid in the waters of FMA-RI 571. These findings highlight the need for adaptive and ecosystem-based fisheries management strategies to ensure the sustainability of squid stocks in this region. }, issn = {2407-7690}, pages = {157--169} doi = {10.14710/jmr.v15i1.52709}, url = {https://ejournal3.undip.ac.id/index.php/jmr/article/view/52709} }
