Abstract
Ibu yang mempunyai anak autis mempunyai banyak tantangan dalam mengatasi permasalahan. Untuk mengatasi hal ini ibu perlu menerima keadaan yang akan berdampak pada pengasuhan anak. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi makna dan esensi penerimaan diri ibu yang mempunyai anak autis. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif untuk mengorganisasikan data. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini adalah ibu muda yang mempunyai anak pertama terdiagnosa autis. Pengumpulan data melibatkan wawancara mendalam masing-masing selama 60 menit. Kami menggunakan epoche, pemeriksaan koding untuk memastikan kredibilitas data. Hasil penelitian menunjukan delapan tema superdinat yang dibagi dalam tiga tema utama, yaitu 1) secara kausal terdiri dari perasaan ibu, pengasuhan ibu, dan koping. 2) secara intervening terdiri dari support sistem, perubahan terapi, dan bentuk komitmen. 3) secara efeknya terdiri dari bentuk penerimaan ibu dan orientasi masa depan anak. Studi ini menyimpulkan bahwa penerimaan diri ibu dengan anak autis menekankan pada karakteristik pribadi ibu yang dipengaruhi oleh faktor internal dan eksternal. Faktor internal seperti perasaan dan strategi koping, sedangkan faktor eksternal seperti dukungan sosial dan perubahan terapi. Faktor inilah yang membuat ibu untuk terus semangat dalam terapi, sehingga menerima keadaan bahkan mempunyai orientasi masa depan untuk anak mereka.
